As we draw to the end of 2021, we’re taking a fond look back at the most-liked photos on our Instagram over the past year …
1) Achmelvich Bay
These azure waters and golden sands may look Caribbean-esque, but you’ll actually find this beautiful spot near Ullapool on the North Coast 500. Posted in January, this photo seemed to banish the winter blues and make everybody very excited for summer – just look at those colours!

2) Highland cow
Highland cows are hardy creatures and don’t bat an eyelid when it snows, with this one even posing perfectly for his closeup! These gentle giants have become Scottish icons (partially thanks to VisitScotland’s #Coosday posts every Tuesday!) and are a popular photo opportunity for visitors to the country.

3) Buachaille Etive Mòr
The towering mountain of Buachaille Etive Mòr is an iconic sight for walkers on the West Highland Way, and our client Beat Salzmann captured it magnificently with this stunning shot.

4) Pittenweem
The quaint fishing villages of the East Neuk are one of the highlights of the Fife Coastal Path. This colourful alleyway in Pittenweem shows exactly why they are so charming!

5) Puck’s Glen
Often called one of Scotland’s best short walks, Puck’s Glen is a magnificent landscape of tumbling waterfalls and old wooden bridges set in a dramatic gorge. It is well worth seeking out in the undiscovered Cowal Peninsula on the west coast of Scotland.

6) McCaig’s Tower
Inspired by the Colosseum in Rome, McCaig’s Tower looms over the port town of Oban. Our travel specialist, Daisy, took this wonderful aerial shot which shows the unique design.

7) Sycamore Gap
Probably the most photographed spot on Hadrian’s Wall Path, Sycamore Gap became somewhat legendary after featuring in Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and has even been named England’s tree of the year! This shot nicely captures the iconic tree with the ancient Roman wall rising steeply in the background.
