Highlights

The bridge and ford at the picturesque hamlet of Malmsmead in the Doone Valley directly on the border between Somerset and Devon

County Gate, Brendon & Malmsmead Hill

Travel through the scenic Doone Valley, heading west along the East Lyn River to the small village of Brendon. This challenging walk provides wonderful variety as you ascend Malmsmead Hill, where you will be rewarded with fantastic views across the hilly moorland of Exmoor National Park.

Lizard Point

This is a satisfying circular walk that joins the South West Coast Path and explores the spectacular Lizard Peninsula. This route follows an undulating coast and provides wonderful views, particularly at Kynance Cove and the central Lizard Point.

Hunter's Inn & Woody Bay

This walk offers views of some of the most dramatic cliffs in England – you might even be able to spot Wales on a clear day! It starts and ends near the delightful Hunter’s Inn, where you may wish to enjoy a well-earned beverage at the end of your walk.

Land’s End & Sennen Cove

Starting in the small village of Sennen, this straightforward walk will lead you to the southernmost point in England. This walk features a beautiful coastline, with plenty of historical sites to visit along the way. Continuing on from Land’s End, you can also reach the gorgeous Nanjizal beach.

Lundy Island

Travel 12 miles off the coast of Devon, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Bristol Channel, to visit the unspoilt Lundy Island. This island that is tiny in population is mighty in wildlife. It is even named after a famous puffin!

St Michael’s Mount

Explore this tidal island steeped in legend and visit the medieval church and castle that sit proudly at the pinnacle of the island. The island can be reached on foot or via a short boat trip and boasts spectacular views of Mount’s Bay and the Lizard.

Drive & Hike Through Captivating South-West England

This delightful multi-centre walking holiday is based in two of England’s most beautiful counties. Explore world-famous beaches and picture-postcard villages in Devon and Cornwall, and enjoy the freedom to discover these areas on foot and by car.

Devon: Devon is home to some of the most spectacular coastlines in the UK, making it a fantastic base for a holiday packed with stunning walking opportunities. There is an abundance of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the region, making it a haven for wildlife.

This itinerary is based in North Devon, where you will find dramatic cliffs and consistent scenic views. There is a perfect mix of riverside, moorland and steep coastline trails to suit your level and style of walking.

Cornwall: Your travels continue as you head towards the ‘Cornish Riviera, where you will explore England’s charming south west corner. There are endless beaches to explore on foot, as you set off on trails that abound with wondrous headland.

Another highlight is the charming and quaint villages and fishing harbours that are scattered throughout Cornwall. Visit bustling St Ives or Padstow, or the more quaint and quiet villages of Port Isaac or St Mawes. Don’t miss out on the chance to try a number of Cornish delicacies that range from cream teas to pasties and ice cream.

Itinerary

This is a multi-centre walking holiday which requires the use of a car. If you plan to bring your own vehicle, we are able to offer this holiday without a rental car.

We design each itinerary around your interests, so think of this as a starting point which can be tailored into something completely unique to you. You can start on the day of your choice, and are free to add extra nights or other destinations.

We will provide you with a variety of walking routes and sightseeing suggestions which means you are free to walk as much, or as little, as you please.

Walking Terrain

Devon: Windswept moorlands, spectacular cliff paths, and broad sandy beaches.

Cornwall: Remote and rugged cliff paths and long sandy beaches. Some steep headlands.

Day 1: Arrive in Devon

Make your way to Devon today where your multi-centre walking holiday will begin. This beautiful region is full of endless opportunities for adventure.
Overnight – North Devon

Days 2 - 4: Walking in Devon

Walking recommendations include:

Easy: Hunter’s Inn & Woody Bay (4.5 miles / 7.2 km / 275m ascent / 2 hours)
Moderate: Hurlstone & Selworthy Beacon (6.5 miles / 10.1 km / 350m ascent / 3.5 hours)
Challenging: County Gate, Brendon & Malmsmead Hill (9 miles / 14.5 km / 420m ascent / 5 hours)

Overnight – North Devon

Day 5: Devon to Cornwall

Today you will make your way to Cornwall – a drive of approximately 120 miles. This region is filled with endless coastline to explore, interspersed with some of England’s most charming villages and towns.
Overnight – South Cornwall

Days 6 - 8: Walking in Cornwall

Walking recommendations include:

Easy: Land’s End & Sennen Cove (3 miles / 4.75 km / 160m ascent / 2 hours)
Moderate: Zennor Head (5 miles / 8.5 km / 290m ascent / 3 hours)
Challenging: Challenging: Lizard Point (6.5 miles / 10.5 km / 365m ascent / 4 hours)
